16-63. 30K WINCH ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT/REPAIR (CONT)
(20) Inspect input shaft (19) for pitted or broken spline teeth.
(21) Inspect drive coupling (20) for pitted or broken spline
teeth.
(22) Measure compression spring (21) for minimum length of
3.00 in. (0.76 cm).
(23) Inspect sun gear (22) for pitted or broken teeth.
d. Assembly.
WARNING
Drum weighs approximately 350 lbs (159
kgs). Attach a suitable lifting device prior
to assembly. Failure to comply may result
in injury to personnel and/or damage to
equipment.
(1) Position drum (1) with cable clamp end down.
NOTE
Left and right side 30K winches are assembled
the same way. Left side shown.
(2) Install two keys (2) on output shaft (3).
(3) Install output shaft (3) in drum (1).
(4) Install thrust washer (4) in gear end support (5).
(5) Install bearing (6) in gear end support (5).
(6) Install seal (7) in gear end support (5).
(7) Install gear end support (5) on drum (1).
