d. Top Plate Disassembly.
(1) Move jaws (1) to closed position on fifth wheel top plate
(2).
WARNING
Use care when removing springs. Springs
are under tension and can act as
projectiles when released.
Failure to
comply may result in injury to personnel.
(2) Remove pin (3) from connecting link (4).
(3) Remove spring (5), secondary lock handle (6), and
connecting link (4) from fifth wheel top plate (2).
(4) Remove self-locking nut (7), washer (8), spacer (9), and
identification plate (10) from stud (11). Discard self-
locking nut.
